Turku Art Museum
EXHIBITION BUS CAMPAIGNS
For Turku 2011, European Capital of Culture, Turku Art Museum wanted to bring its exhibitions out into the city.
I designed and produced a series of exhibition bus wraps for Carl Larsson, Crème de la Crème, Otto Mäkilä and Veli Granö. The idea was to cut through the idea that museums are dull by turning the buses into moving pieces of art.
Each bus used works from the museum’s collections and gave them a new public surface: more than 15 metres long, moving through the streets.
My role: Art Direction · Concept Design · Visual Design · Production
Crème de la Crème
Classic works with sharper headlines. The bus made old masters feel more direct, playful and public.
Carl Larsson
Soft, light and recognisable. The exhibition moved through the city as a calm Nordic image world.
Veli Granö
A darker, photographic world. The campaign brought the exhibition into the city with a more mysterious tone.
Otto Mäkilä
Surreal colour and strong symbols turned into a moving street-level exhibition.
